The participants expressed their gratitude to the organizers of these sessions and expressed their appreciation for the benefit of the eco-driving, who had no prior knowledge of this issue and promised that they will deliver obtained information to the drivers of their companies, and its use in their every day’s work in order to save fuel and spare parts  of transport and keep the  environment and the citizens safe. Around 36 people participated in both seminars

The main issues that were discussed during the seminars were the actual problems that drivers and passengers are facing with a quality of fuel, lack of the proper schedule of the buses, “Open doors in some of the public transport”.

In conclusion the Fleet managers and Directors of the Transport companies promised that they will provide training and seminars among the drivers.

Another important event that took place was Press briefing with government agencies, civil society and mass media engagement on discussing the “Dushanbe seat belt and eco-driving awareness campaign” middle term results with the participation of Local authority, Ministries and mass media.

Before the start of the Press Briefing the main achievements of the EBRD, EASST, YGT  and other partners have been put on exibition.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Executive Office of the Mayor of Dushanbe Saidzoda Qurbon Tagai, Advisor of the chief of Traffic Police Department, Colonel Abdusattor Kholov, and the representative of the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan Begijon Ziyoev, who all delivered an introductory speeches and mentioned that this is the fresh beginning.

The representative of EBRD in Tajikistan, Jamshed Rahmonberdiev mentioned about EBRD role in the implementation of the project.

Emma McLennan, director of EASST, together with Naimjon Mirzorakhimov, local project manager briefly talked about the aim of the project and presented achieved results.

During the Press Briefing, the issue of the importance of the usage of "seat belt" within the framework of the "Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) for 2017-2030" and "National  Road Safety Strategy for the years  2018-2022", representative of the Ministry of Transport of RT Begijon Ziyoev made a presentation.

The subject of "Championing road safety: what local stakeholders can do” was discussed actively. The deputy of the Traffic police Department of Dushanbe noted that now it is not possible to focus on the social aspects of the citizens and to avoid punishing through fine, It is better to raise awareness and advocacy through mass media. Currently, the Traffic Police continues to promote and take administrative measures in the form of fines for the drivers who do not use seat belt. Only in the first quarter of this year 22 thousand drivers were punished on the basis of part 2 of the article 333 of the administrative code of the Republic of Tajikistan. Administrative measures seem inappropriate if only 22% registered drivers use seat belt in Dushanbe.

It is important to mention that in order to implement the project starting from the 31 of October video and audio recordings on the theme Seat belt use, were broadcasted three times a day, three times a week through the national TV channels TV "Tajikistan", TV “Bahoriston”, TV "Sport" and cities TV channel TV "Dushanbe". Also the billboards were put on the streets of Sherozi, Sino and at the Korvon market of Dushanbe. The media Campaign will continue within 5 months.

The campaign will run until April 2018, with plans for follow-up work.
